Review
My journey through the backcountry did require a large bag for storing a lot of clothing in the cold winter months. This backpack seemed a little too small, but after packing, everything did easily fit into the backpack. My laptop is one of the most important additions and I use this for work. Fortunately, the laptop storage compartment gave me more than enough space to keep it safe. Since it has been heat-molded, it is essentially crushproof.
Once the first small rain shower started, I personally had my doubts about my iPhone being able to withstand this. However, much to my surprise, the phone did hold up and no water even got close to the phone. Foam is used inside the shoulder straps and this makes them mold to the shape of your shoulders. Even though the backpack might be fully loaded and heavy, you won’t feel any sharp pinches on your shoulders.
This padding extends down into the back of the backpack. Since the materials are light, they can absorb a lot of moisture and move it down to the bottom instead of leaving you with a soaked feeling. As the wind pulsated through the back padding, the backpack dried out and it felt like a new backpack. None of my sweat was really caught up in the materials. However, I did notice a foul smell after a couple days of this happening.
With so many different compartments, it does become quite frustrating when you are looking for a specific item. As you open the backpack, you will notice the middle compartment fold in onto itself, something that may make it a little harder to access. Once I notice the aluminum clip on the compression strap, I was happy, but it does sometimes unclip without any warning and you need to look out for this.
Finally, the Thule Crossover 32L Backpack is available in 2 different colors. These colors will help you when you need one that matches a specific wardrobe or gear color. Personally, I don’t care much for the color, but you should keep in mind that black will absorb more of the heat.
What I Like
- Extremely durable materials and construction
- Available in 2 different colors
- Multiple storage compartments
- Water resistant
- Heat-molded compartment for delicate items
- Moisture resistant padding with great ventilation
What I didn’t Like
- The compartments might not be the easiest to access at first
- Expensive price tag with no real warranty
- The backpack does not have any antibacterial protection for odors
